KENDRIYA VIDYALAYA ONGC PANVEL Unique and innovative pedagogical practices of the teachers as witnessed during class observations/inspections. TEACHER – THE PUPPETEER!!! Our organisation is the true representative of unity in diversity and flag bearer of Indian Culture and Tradition. Keeping the spirit of India, and as a means of Purposive Pedagogical Practices, Promotion and Indulgence of Traditional Indian Toys, especially Puppets in Regular classroom teaching and learning, has become an integral part. Integration of toys and games for learning implies that the ‘toys’ and ‘games’ are at the centre of the curriculum, which helps in simplifying and clarifying new concepts. Toys have a great potential to help children in their holistic development. Toy based pedagogy makes teaching interesting and children learn all the concepts effectively by exploring on their own instead of forceful teaching. Amongst the Traditional, Indigenous toys, PUPPETS are the most common and VISUALLY sticking, also effective. Puppet Shows give children the feel of a live show, Created by the teacher or themselves at times. Puppet shows put students in the role of a Creator, Story or Script writer, Performer, Voice Artist. A musician. A Dramatist and above all AN INVOLVED LEARNER, thus realizing and fulfilling the Third Goal of NIPUN BHARAT MISSION. Our teachers are devising innovative ways of Integrating PUPPETERY in delivering the contents of the topics, to make the content more interesting, child friendly, creative and Indigenous too! Several of our teachers such as Mrs. Dipika Saini, Mrs.Tanu Gupta, Ms.Mahima Gupta, Mrs.Priyanka Dahiya and the teachers on contract, too, have adopted the Puppetry in their teaching process. Puppetry is used for Story Telling, General Awareness, Concepts of EVS, Learning Basic Human Values and much more. PUPPET SHOWS have also been used as an Effective FUNDAY ACTICVITY. Every success story is a tale of constant adaption, Revision and change.” SUNITA TRIPATHY HDM KV ONGC PANVEL
